What Would Dad Say.

Getting started

How the prompt library works.

Where prompts come from, how to find one that fits, and how to make your own.

Updated

The prompt library is the answer to I don't know what to say.

Prompts are organized two ways:

  • By moment. Childhood, adolescence, leaving home, marriage, parenthood, hard times.
  • By topic. Money, love, work, character, faith, identity, and the small stuff dads have opinions on (cars, cooking, fixing things, showing up).

Use the filters on the prompt library page to narrow down, or scroll until something pulls at you. Most dads find the right prompt in under a minute — if you're hunting for ten, you're probably overthinking it.

Writing your own prompt

You don't have to use ours. On Premium and Lifetime, you can write your own prompt and answer it. Custom prompts are private to you and don't get shared with other users.

Suggestions from us

If you turn on weekly prompt nudges (Premium), we'll send one prompt a week, picked to fit where you are in the year and where your kids are in their lives. You can always skip — the nudges are designed to be ignorable.
